Hi! I’m Charlotte.

Hello! I’m Charlotte, a journalist, freelancer, communications specialist, researcher for the CBC, and most importantly, an ardent know-it-all.

My experience in reporting includes working for CBC’s Quebec City newsroom and writing for Carleton University’s newspapers, The Charlatan and the Capital Current. I have a keen interest in transit, infrastructure, and animal issues. I wrote an article about a Zine both critiquing and celebrating public transport. This made me particularly interested in the experiences of people who love the concept of public transit but struggle with the reality of the system.

I have also been working as a Communications Officer at Housing, Infrastructures, and Communities Canada. In this role, I develop communications materials for the Government of Canada website and social media, while also analyzing political dynamics in British Columbia to shape our strategies. My research expertise covers topics such as the relationship between infrastructure and reconciliation and political narratives surrounding infrastructure. My strength lies in translating complex information into clear, impactful narratives.

My immense curiosity knows no limits, and I love nothing more than saying “yes” and trying new opportunities. I once read a single tweet about seal hunting in Canada, which prompted me to fall into a rabbit hole and come out with a 2,000-word feature breaking down the debate and history surrounding the practice. Needless to say, I’m chronically online and love to be in the know.

I have a growing passion for researching corporate crime, crime policy and corporate-state relationships. I aspire to write more on these subjects as my career evolves.

TLDR: You should hire me because I am an avid researcher and fact-checker, therefore I will not get you sued. I always meet deadlines and I link my sources, too.
